happened in riverside at about 1:30 this morning. police told us that two officers on routine patrol, riverside police officers, were ambushed by the suspect dorner. now, separate from that, earlier this evening, in corona, california or earlier last evening, i should say, an lapd officer on patrol, apparently leaving the freeway. this is according to the lapd, was shot, grazed in the head. if you look at the manifesto from dorner, we can call this a hit list of lapd officers, who he was upset with. basically, it's believed that he is now trying to exact a measure of revenge against all of the people who somehow angered him. and in reading the manifesto, he alluded to being fired. he said terminating me for telling the truth about a caucasian officer kicking a mentally ill person is disgusting. a mentally ill man. a lot of other clues in the manifesto. he was talking about some of his military background, and he said that, you are aware i was always the top shot and the highest scorer and expert in rifle qualifications in every unit. and he goes on to say, i will utilize every bit of

cornell bernard tells us from san jose as the mayor is ready for the state of the city address. cornell? >> normally it is a word no one wants to hear but the mayor will make it a big part of the state of the city address. the word is "taxes." the mayor says the city needs a sales tax increase and will call on community leaders to organize a campaign to support police and fire services and restore pay for workers who had to take cuts to balance the budget. a poll suggests that voters could be willing to do that. there is 70 percent support if a quarter percent sales increase but 57 percent for half a percent increase. the earliest it would be on the battle is next year, the 5th sales tax measure voters have approved since the mayor took office in 2007. the state of the city address is underway at 6:30 right here at city hall. >> fairfield police are asking for your help in finding the killer of a 13-year-old girl. the guardian for the 13-year-old reported her missing last thursday evening. her body was found friday m

wintry weather. we're looking at mostly rain, a system for us that will start as rain around 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. mostly rain for us, but we can't at the tail end of this system when it starts making its way out of the area, we could see gusts up to 50 miles an hour. as far as areas around new york city, they could get upwards of a foot of snow. snow and wind as the system gets off the coast and really starts affecting the northeast. in new england it's a full-out blizzard with 1 to 2 feet of snowfall. you're looking at the start times here. for us, it's friday morning as rain. for areas around new york, it's friday early afternoon. they by friday evening, up into eastern new england. again, significant travel delays for the northeast, probably all out coming to a spot in areas. so just a newsens storm for us, but a full-out blizzard with high winds, a lot of snow, and big-time snow drifts occurring throughout areas of new england. it's not just one storm, but two storms. area of low pressure down to the south. another area of low pressure off to the west around chicago,

a real budget cut. the u.s. postal service says it's ready to stop saturday delivery beginning this summer. it will save them $2 billion. unfortunately it's losing $16 billion a year. it's a start. more budget cuts may be coming. house speaker john boehner saying today he won't bail out the president when it comes to the sequester budget cut. and eric cantor says the spending cut sequester is going through. i will talk to mr. cantor in a little while. the u.s. and global stock market continues. japan is up 32%. first up this evening, neither snow nor rain nor saturday. the post master general today announcing the postal service will stop saturday letter deliveries. take a listen. >> a typical large organization would have either cash on hand or borrowing ability. two months worth of cash to cover operating costs. in october this year the postal service had less than four days of cash on hand. that's a scary situation. it's no situation that a business should be in. >> all right. sounds like it's time to close up shop all together and privatize the post office. four days of cash
